What is it?

In simple terms, it is about finding solutions to your problems without excessive dwelling on your past. It uses practical, modern and well researched strategies to help people make significant, positive and lasting changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.

Hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind. You may not be aware of this but we go into hypnotic trances every day without us knowing. It is very similar to daydreaming. Perhaps you’ve been staring out of the window of the bus going into work, or driven home along a road you know well yet not remembered parts of the journey. Or maybe you have been so totally preoccupied looking at your phone or tablet that you didn’t hear when someone called your name. If any of these examples ring a bell, you’ve been in a hypnotic trance.

This is miles away from stage hypnotism or fearing we will be ‘out of it’ and not in control. On the contrary, you are fully conscious during the hypnosis session and you can even open your eyes at any time should you so wish. It is simply a gentle and effective way of inducing and harnessing the power of this natural trance state to re-programme unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours residing in your subconscious. You will very feel relaxed and calm and aware of everything around you. It is an extremely pleasant and enjoyable state and my clients love it, often commenting on how ordinary it feels.

Your preferred future

Regardless of what your challenges may be, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on your preferred future and the direction you want to take from now on. We will not analyze or go into depth about why you are where you are. This may be different to other therapies you’ve encountered. Using a combination of the latest neuroscience, CBT, NLP, SFBT and hypnosis, clients usually make significant positive and beneficial changes within a relatively short period of time through accessing the part of the brain which is receptive to changing negative thoughts, habits and behaviour.

Investment in solution focused hypnotherapy is one of the best choices you could make but it’s not an instant fix. The brain responds best to repetition and usually you will need at least eight sessions to warrant positive lasting change for the better for general anxiety based issues, sometimes more. Fear and Phobia normalisation are based on the client’s circumstance as well as smoking cessation. This can be discussed over the phone.

Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety and this is done very simply through a state of focused attention using guided visualisations, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their lives that encourages a shift in perspective.

Initial Consultation

No treatment takes place during the initial consultation. Instead we have the opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed environment to ascertain if hypnotherapy is a suitable treatment for you. It also gives me the opportunity to explain how hypnotherapy works in more detail. Whilst the results of Hypnotherapy can often appear magical it is not like waving a magic wand. Ultimately it is down to you to want to make the changes and be willing to engage in the therapeutic process. The treatment process is effectively a team effort and should be treated as such. For this reason I cannot guarantee results.
